<article><hdr>Airborne shot of two B-47 Stratojets</hdr><body>
<hi style=afpcap>In 1953 Boeing converted a pair of B-47B for trials with the British developed probe and drogue refuelling system. One aircraft was modified with the drogue extended from the open bomb bay, while the received was fitted with the probe on the nose. The tanker was 50-0040 which was allocated the designation KB-47G, while the receiver was 50-0009 as a YB-47F. Following tests the programme was abandoned in favour of the Boeing flying boom method of air refuelling.</hi>
